To celebrate the Aspen Art Museum’s 8th Annual ArtCrush gala, artists and art enthusiasts gathered in Aspen for three days of beautifully curated events, including auctions of major works of contemporary art and wine, the presentation of the AAM’s Aspen Award for Art to 2012 honoree Tom Sachs, who created a piece, entitled “Poche Vide,” especially for the gala, and of course, flutes of rare vintages of Dom Pérignon. In addition to Sachs’ bricolage sculpture, the live auction, run by Sotheby’s, boasted work from a bevy of artists, like Dzine, Angel Otero, and even Flaunt cover artists Luis Gispert and Rob Pruitt. In conjunction with ArtCrush, the Museum also showed two contemporary art exhibitions, Lucio Fontana: Ceramics and Amelie von Wulffen, which will be on view until October 7th. It was all a success, raising an impressive $1.8 million to further the Museum’s exhibitions and programming.
Ah, art, wine, philanthropy. What more could you ask for?
