After spending a sunny Friday afternoon at Bar Marmont shooting London's rising pop-goth force Charli XCX for Flaunt's upcoming issue, we drove downtown to watch her perform at Club Nokia. Outfitted in a Catholic school girl skirt, Charli's organic dance moves and infectious stage presence got the crowd moving and pumped for the night ahead - a headlining set from none other than the eccentric, Santigold. You could never pull Santigold's status. She opened the show with her hit "GO!" from her recently debuted album, Master of My Make-Believe, followed immediately after with crowd favorite, "L.E.S. Artistes."

The bouncy, island electronic-inspired beats whipped the crowd into a frenzy while her two back up dancers performed their signature moves, switching props and costumes during the set. Audience height dropped a foot or two during Santigold's saucy "Freak Like Me," as everyone got low. Really low.
Santigold's music and live performances are rare to disappoint, and Friday night was no exception. Nokia's energy and whiskey shots kept us up, dancing and singing, the entire time. Sadly, we weren't part of the chosen ones pulled up to dance onstage during "Creator," but had a good laugh when Santi playfully slapped a camera down from an overeager fan dancing next to her. The rules were simple: no cameras, don't fuck with her ladies, and DANCE. Honestly, people, you're dancing with Santigold, don't waste it on a video for your Facebook.
We left breathless, slightly soggy (whiskey was flying), and entirely happy. Cheers to you both, Charli and Santi. You both kick ass.
