If the shows at Fashion Week had any one common theme it’s D-I-Y. We’re still moving away from flashy labels and logos but increasingly we’re seeing micro-fashion and individualized looks where the wearer plays designer.
Jordana Silver is impressively representing this trend in shoe-wear. Silver is the creator and designer of the eponymous shoe-line of customizable flats. Her ballet flats are available in either black calfskin or patent-leather, but the shoes are just part of the story—They’re a fashionista’s dream because of the added touch of Jordana Silver bisous, or “kisses”: small clip-on charms.
“To me fashion has always been about having fun expressing your different personalities,” says Silver, the Parsons-trained former designer for Michael Kors. Her line of bisous effortlessly clip or slide on to the flats at any place you choose. Put a grosgrain bow bisous on the heel for a romantic feel, a Hogwarts inspired metallic owl bisous for an edgier feel, a black crystal stone for a luxe look, or a rosegold rose to add some pop. With over 15 bisous to choose from (Silver adds one a month to her collection) including pink-agate crystals, metal studs, robot charms, and skulls, you can choose to either customize new flats or spruce up old shoes or boots. The idea is to get creative, or in Silver’s words, “to have fun with it.”
