Films like Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz have become synonymous with glamorous, genius fashion. Scarlett O'Hara's fantastically lush, green velvet dress and Dorothy's ruby red slippers would not be household lore if not for the seasoned creative masterminds of Western Costume Company.
On Wednesday, June 20th, costume designers Ellen Mirojnick (Liberace, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Basic Instinct) and Carol Ramsey (Surviving Picasso, Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, Magic City) will host a panel discussion with costume supervisor Jim Tyson (Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol, Thor , Top Gun) alongside Western Costume Company's revered artisans, milliner Harry Rotz and shoe maker Mauricio Osario. The panel will be introduced by Western Costume Company's president, Eddy Marks, and moderated by Bobi Garland, the company's archivist and research library director.
Stay for a piece of history: Western Costume Company's very first costume pageant featuring 42 pieces from some of Hollywoods most iconic films (including the Southern belle's famous green dress.) Cocktail reception to follow on the Los Angeles Times Central Court.
