Retro-Luxuriance on the High Seas
Fashion on portside, fashion on starboard. now let’s get nautical. Gucci and yacht-manufacturers, Riva, recently embarked on a collaborative design project, Riva Aquariva Speedboat by Gucci, and is it ever something worth being seen on. (“Darling, did you match your new Gucci bikini to the hull?”) Inspired by the Fellini masterpiece, La Dolce Vita, it’s the number one harbor hang out for Flaunt editors and other lifestyle aficionados.
Gucci, Riva, and design company Officiana Italiano Design have done a fine job producing a water vessel true to its 1960s retro style, one that positively oozes the best Italian panache money can buy, and made-to-order only, naturally. Introduced as part of the 90th anniversary of Gucci next year, the boat features a fiberglass hull and detailing painted in Gucci’s own hue of glossy white; moreover, it integrates Riva’s signature use of mahogany with 120 coats of varnish, as well as waterproof seats with the Guccissima print.
So speed off into the sunset, jet into the harbor, have a glass of
champers (which will surely enhance your command of the vessel), dazzle in the sun in Gucci accessories paired to the Aquariva, or just take it all off and jump in. After all, no one can tell you it’s illegal to go topless in the oft-conservative state of California when you’re far from shore, backed by 760 combined horsepower. Whatever floats your boat, really, darling.
